Dramaturgy & Script Consultancy
Drawing on his experience as a playwright and a drama teacher, Ned has been offering dramaturgical support for playwrights of all ages and experience for many years. His focus is always on helping writers tell the stories they want to tell in a theatrical setting.
As well as developing a playwrighting program at Newtown Performing Arts High School, Ned has taught playwriting at Monash University and developed the first play written about the Stolen Generation with students at the EORA Centre for Aboriginal Performing and Visual Arts.
““The Galari Writer’s Residency held at the Corridor Project in Cowra was defined by the inspiring mentorship of acclaimed writer, actor and teacher Ned Manning. His expertise and generosity created an engaging, dynamic and supportive environment where First Nations writers were encouraged to develop their writing skills and explore new ideas.”

Ned is an excellent dramaturg and always gives considered feedback. He’s taught me how to find the drama and maintain the tension in a scene, and most importantly, he has reminded me to keep coming back to the ‘why’. Why is this story important? Why are we telling it now? ”
